On September 24, 2026, GMO GlobalSign Holdings K.K. and VESS Labs Inc. announced the results of a joint Proof of Concept (PoC) conducted from April to September 2026. The PoC verified a trust infrastructure that confirms the identity and transaction authority of AI agents across different companies.
As generative AI advances into autonomous agents capable of handling corporate transactions, verifying trading partners becomes essential. Using Verifiable Credentials (VC)—tamper-proof digital certificates—the system allows an AI agent’s affiliated organization and scope of authority to be verified on the spot, without needing to query the partner company’s system for every transaction.
The PoC connected buyer- and seller-side AI agents independently developed by each company and validated a full workflow—mutual identity and authority verification, human approval, order placement, and simulated payment—while completing 281 automated tests covering both normal transaction flows and simulated fraudulent operations (as of August 28, 2026).
A joint research report was released today, ahead of the companies’ co-hosted event “AI Agent Trust 2026” in Tokyo on October 14, 2026.
