Bluebox Security Announces Partnership with GlobalSign to Provide Mobile App Security and Identity Services

Go-to-market partnership offers seamless end-to-end, zero-touch security and identity services
for the enterprise

SAN FRANCISCO — January 19, 2016 — Bluebox Security®, the mobile app security and analytics company first to pioneer self-defending apps for consumers, BYOD employees and the extended enterprise, today announced a partnership with GlobalSign, a leading provider of identity and security solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE). The go-to-market partnership will enable end-to-end protection—extending security and identity services from the enterprise infrastructure down to the mobile app layer. Now, enterprises can ensure only approved users can access and operate on their networks with confidence that the data accessed remains secure while in use in mobile apps.

“Enterprises are seeking to increase productivity by arming employees, partners and contractors with custom mobile apps. However, these apps are developed by a variety of teams with a range of security practices, and are being distributed to unmanaged devices,” said Pam Kostka, CEO at Bluebox. “Our goal is to provide enterprises with consistent app security and visibility, regardless of developer or device, to protect corporate data. And now this partnership with GlobalSign makes it even easier to ensure secure productivity for the extended enterprise.”

The new partnership, in conjunction with select enterprise mobile management (EMM) platforms, will enable enterprises to use GlobalSign to provision digital identities on mobile devices and secure their apps with Bluebox without involving the end user. For instance, enterprises that develop their own custom apps can use OAuth 2.0, supported by GlobalSign, to implement one of the most popular authentication standards in their app, while leveraging Bluebox to transform the app into a self-defending app to protect app data, and to defend against and respond to emerging mobile attacks.

“As more enterprise organizations continue to enable employees to ‘bring their own devices,’ it becomes increasingly challenging to address critical security concerns associated with sensitive data accessed outside the protected network perimeter,” said Lila Kee, Chief Products Officer at GlobalSign. “With Bluebox providing security at the app layer and our PKI certificate and identity and access management solutions addressing security at the device and user layers, we have a very strong security offering for mobile devices.”

The new era for the enterprise space is increasingly dominated by mobile apps being developed by a variety of teams—inside and outside of the organization—that access confidential corporate data. In Bluebox’s recent Mobile App Survey, it was found that 96 percent of mobile app developers use third party frameworks to speed up app development that may or may not be secure. Bluebox ensures consistent, enterprise-grade security for BYOD and extended enterprise apps while delivering real-time threat intelligence and actionable analytics. With Bluebox, organizations have confidence corporate data is secure and the visibility to proactively protect their data, and enterprise, from threats.
