GlobalSign Enters Partnership with Vietnam’s Only Government Licensed Public Certificate Authority

Tokyo – August 7, 2009 – GMO Hosting & Security subsidiary and digital certification service operator, GlobalSign announces that it has formed a business partnership and signed a deal with V-SIGN, the co-operator of the only public Certificate Authority (CA) for government in Vietnam licensed under Vietnamese electronic signature law. GMO Hosting & Security is a GMO Internet Group company.

Currently, Vietnam is working hard to improve e-government. The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has a number of projects underway, and digital certification infrastructure is essential to securing e-government. The VNPT alliance, as the only digital authentication service provider licensed under Vietnamese electronic signature law to operate a public CA is comitted to providing substantial CA operations.

Under the deal between the two companies GlobalSign will provide V-SIGN with Certificate Authority operational support and wide-ranging consultation services. The business agreement between GlobalSign and V-SIGN marks the beginning of a dynamic partnership that will explore CA projects in Vietnam.

GlobalSign has a proven track record of over ten years as a Certificate Authority, and the company is highly regarded for its role in the successful Belgian government eID project, one of only a few deployments worldwide of PKI for government. The new V-SIGN alliance allows GlobalSign to offer Certificate Authority construction and operational support.

V-SIGN (Vietnam Digital Signature Authentication Corporation)

V-SIGN, co-operator of the Certificate Authority providing government use authentication services, in partnership with VDC, a subsidiary of VNPT.. A government licensed public CA, V-SIGN issues certificates that secure tax documents and strengthen the security of government systems.

*eID:
