For Candidates for Public Office and Political Parties

This page provides guidance on the procedures for requesting the removal of information when information infringing on a person's honor is posted in documents or images used for election campaigning or defeat campaigning during an election campaign period through the use of our services.

Candidates for public office, political parties, and others who wish to request such removal may submit a request through the following procedures, as a procedure based on the "Special Provisions for Candidates for Public Office" under the Provider Liability Limitation Act.

Information Subject to the Procedure

Information subject to the procedure based on the "Special Provisions for Candidates for Public Office" under the Provider Liability Limitation Act is information that satisfies all of the following:

  1. Information distributed during the election campaign period (from the announcement date (notification date) to the day before the voting day)
  2. Information in documents or images used for election campaigning or defeat campaigning
  3. Information that infringes on the honor of a candidate for public office or similar person

How to Apply

Please prepare the required documents and mail them to the address below.
(In principle, applications are accepted by mail only.)

Required Documents

In the case of an application by the candidate

  1. Notice of Honor-Infringing Information and Request for Transmission Prevention Measures (*1)
  2. Certificate of the candidate's seal registration (issued within the last three months)

In the case of an application by a political party or similar organization

  1. Notice of Honor-Infringing Information and Request for Transmission Prevention Measures (*1)
  2. Certificate of the party's representative seal registration (issued within the last three months), or a copy of the candidate notification by list (limited to those accepted by the election administrator)

*In the case of an application by proxy, in addition to 1 and 2 above:

  1. A power of attorney from the candidate or political party
  2. Certificate of the proxy's seal registration (however, if the proxy is an attorney, documents 3 and 4 are not required)
