In an age where businesses are heavily reliant on their IT systems, devising a business continuity plan to minimize system downtime in the event of an earthquake, fire or other natural disaster is a high priority for many corporations. Data must be backed up daily and procedures need to be established to ensure systems can be quickly and efficiently restored in the event of an emergency.

GMO Hosting & Security today launches Disaster Recovery Service, a low price service inclusive of system recovery that protects customer data in the event of a disaster by providing remote backup.

Disaster Recovery Service

We are offering four Disaster Recovery Service plans: Light, Basic, Advanced, and Platinum. Our customers can select the backup and recovery method, backup frequency, hardware specs, and datacenter connection that best suits their usage needs.

Disaster Recovery Service Features
1. Advanced and Platinum Plans Minimize System Downtime in the Event of a Disaster

Data in the main Tokyo datacenter is replicated to a remote datacenter. In the event of damage to the Tokyo datacenter DNS can be automatically or manually rerouted to the remote location for continuous server availability. This makes it possible to minimize IT system downtime. After restoration data can be migrated back to the Tokyo datacenter. The Platinum Plan also offers real time backup.

2. Light and Basic Plans for Backup to Restoration

Data is backed up to a remote datacenter via the network in order to protect it in the event of server damage. The Light plan comes with 50GB of backup space for 31,500 yen (inc. tax), and the Basic plan offers a dedicated file server (NAS) with 1TB of backup space. Data is backed up once a day and restored in the event of a disaster.

3. Select Remote Datacenter and Connection

Customers may select a remote data centers in Gunma or Kyoto (*2), and select the connection that best suits their needs. We also have plans to open an additional datacenter in Osaka.
