GlobalSign to Provide SSL Server Certificates for NTT DoCoMo Cell Phones

Tokyo – November 27, 2007 – GMO Hosting & Security consolidated subsidiary and digital certificate services company, GlobalSign, now offers SSL server certificates compatible with NTT DoCoMo cell phones. GMO Hosting & Security is a GMO Internet Group company.

SSL secured communication is essential when net shopping or net banking from a cell phone for sending credit card numbers and other personal information through a web site. The SSL server certificate required for SSL communication shows that the cell phone carrier recognizes the Certificate Authority that issued the certificate is reliable. This allows users for the first time to identify reliable server certificates in their cell phone web browsers through a root certificate in their cell phone.
NTT DoCoMo has approved SSL server certificate service provider GlobalSign, and root certificates will be installed on NTT DoCoMo cell phones. This makes SSL secured communication possible on NTT DoCoMo cell phones using GlobalSign SSL server certificates.

GlobalSign provides root certificates for a wide range of platforms beyond the personal computer, including mobile devices.
